Firefighters responded to four fires in Calgary on Saturday, one of which forced the evacuation of a three-storey apartment building in Kensington.

Calgary fire crews responded to multiple calls for a building fire in the 2000 block of Kensington Road N.W. around 6 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames from a blaze attacking the upper two levels of the three-storey building.

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) said crews first worked on the exterior of the building before going inside to extinguish the flames. They also deployed an aerial ladder to gain access to the roof.

All occupants were able to self-evacuate and there are no reported injuries. There are about 20 people displaced from their homes.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.

Later that night, just after 8 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Fallswater Crescent N.W. in Falconridge. Crews arrived to smoke and flames on the exterior of the home.
