A couple of beefy characters are clearly identifiable on video as they hit or shove Black Lives Matter demonstrators.

In one particularly chilling image, a very large man chases down a tiny person and drives them to the ground.

This is just as illegal at a demonstration as it is in a bar or a living room. The Criminal Code calls it assault, with up to five years in prison on conviction.

Political violence has to be stopped in Alberta before it feeds on itself and too much American TV.

Madu is very conscious of what’s happened in the States, where armed protestors have shot and killed people, and vigilante groups stroll around arrogantly, armed like military platoons.

The gun part won’t happen here, we sincerely hope, but the spirit is catching on for extremists who are enraged by the sight of people demonstrating for an end to racism.

Red Deer Mounties are asking for witnesses. They have have video of one alleged assault that happened before officers arrived on the scene.

On Monday, they saw another alleged assault on social media, and as a result opened an investigation.

One question is, why weren’t officers present all the time?

The official answer is that the Black Lives Matter demonstrators, met with counter-protestors at their planned venue, moved to another and police didn’t get there right away.

There have been charges on social media that the police stood aside and let attacks happen. The police say that once they arrived they got between the groups and “were able to de-escalate the situation.”
